Texas Open Meetings Act

The Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA) was adopted to help make governmental decision-making accessible to the public. It requires meetings of governmental bodies to be open to the public, except for expressly authorized closed sessions, and to be preceded by public notice of the time, place, and subject matter of the meeting. “The provisions of [TOMA] are mandatory and are to be liberally construed in favor of open government.”

As a Governmental Body of the State of Texas, the Texas Racing Commission is committed to providing you with all information authorized under the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA).

In order to facilitate your TPIA request, you must submit a Texas Public Information Act Information Request Form for our team to initiate the staffing process. Upon receipt and validation of your form, an Open Records Request number will be assigned and our staff will seek to fulfill your request as expeditiously as possible within the statutory timelines.
